Press Releases


On 1-16-13, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to 11444 Beckford Avenue in reference to an assault.  Investigation revealed that an argument had occurred between a brother and sister.  Both parties were referred to the District Court Commissioners Office for charges.

On 1-12-13, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to Beach to Bay Seafood located at 12138 Carol Lane in reference to a hit and run crash.  Investigation revealed that as a vehicle was backing in the parking lot it hit another vehicle.  The striking vehicle left the scene without providing any information however witnesses were able to record the vehicles information.  Incident remains under investigation.

On 1-11-13, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to 11454 Beckford Avenue in reference to a burglary.  Investigation revealed that the suspect(s) had gained entry into the residence.  It is unknown if anything was stolen as the house is vacant. Incident remains under investigation.

On 1-10-13, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Lindsey Howard Thaxton, 58 of Princess Anne Maryland for assault second degree.  The arrest stemmed from an assault investigation at 30491 Pecan Drive.  Thaxton was seen by a District Court Commissioner who released Thaxton on personal recognizance.

On 1-9-13, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to Pine Knoll
Drive in reference to a theft of a bicycle.  Investigation revealed that three bicycles were stolen from a rear patio area from one of the apartments.  Two of the bicycles were found and returned to the owner.  Incident remains under investigation.  

On 1-8-13, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Damon Anthony Lewis, 34, of Princess Anne Maryland for an outstanding District Court Bench Warrant out of Wicomico County.  Lewis was seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on personal recognizance.

On 1-8-13, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Deborah Lee Wirth, 57, of Princess Anne Maryland for driving under the influence of alcohol.  The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop.  Wirth was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired, driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, and driving under the influence of alcohol and or a controlled dangerous substance.  Wirth was released from custody upon signing her citations.

On 1-7-13, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Tare Stanley Okirika, 24, of Princess Anne Maryland for theft.  The arrest stemmed from a theft investigation at Rite Aid located at 12154 Brittingham Lane.  Okirika was issued a criminal citation for theft under $100.00 and was released from custody upon signing the citation.

On 1-6-13, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to Mt. Vernon Road and Route 13 in reference to a vehicle crash.  Investigation revealed that while a vehicle was stopped for a red traffic signal it was struck from behind by another vehicle.  The crash caused minor damage and no injuries were reported.

On 1-6-13, the Princess Anne Police Department took a report of an assault that occurred at 11785 Beechwood Street.  The victim in the case was referred to the District Court Commissioners Office for charges.  The suspect is known and charges are pending.

On 1-5-13, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Lamont Quamar Lewis, 27, of Princess Anne Maryland for assault first degree.  The arrest stemmed from an assault investigation at 12251 Wink Lane.  Lewis was charged with assault first degree, assault second degree, handgun on person, disorderly conduct, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, reckless endangerment, and disturbing the peace.  Lewis was seen by a District Court Commissioner who issued a $100,000.00 bond.  Lewis was released into the custody of the Somerset County Detention Center.

On 1-4-13, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to 11628 Somerset Avenue in reference to a theft.  Investigation revealed that sometime between 12-28-12 and 1-3-13, the suspect(s) stole a registration plate off of a vehicle parked at the residence.  Incident remains under investigation. 

On 1-3-13, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Theodore Franklin Rifenburg, 47, of Princess Anne Maryland and Deborah Lynn Cooper, 56, of Princess Anne Maryland.  The arrests stemmed from a dispute at 30811 Shockley Lane.  Rifenburg was charged with assault second degree, interfering with a lawful arrest, disorderly conduct, fail to obey a lawful order, and resisting arrest.  Cooper was charged with threat of arson.  Rifenburg was seen by a District Court Commissioner who issued a $20,000.00 bond.  Cooper was also seen by a District Court Commissioner who issued a $20,000.00 bond.  Both Rifenburg and Cooper were released into the custody of the Somerset County Detention Center. 

On 1-2-13, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Michael Devon Townsend, 22, of Princess Anne Maryland for an outstanding warrant.  The arrest stemmed from a vehicle crash investigation where Townsend was found to be a passenger.  A wanted check revealed Townsend had an outstanding parole retake warrant.  Townsend was placed under arrest and transported to PRMC for treatment of his injuries sustained in the crash and then released to the custody of the Maryland State Police.  The crash was a single vehicle crash that occurred on Antioch Avenue Extended. 

On 1-2-13, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to Bailey Jewelers located at 30400 Mt Vernon Road in reference to malicious destruction of property.  Investigation revealed that the suspect(s) damaged two windows between the dates of 12-30-12 and 12-31-12.  Incident remains under investigation.

On 12-31-12, the Princess Anne Police Department responded to 11779 Somerset Avenue in reference to a burglary.  Investigation revealed that the suspect(s) entered into an apartment and stole several items between the dates of 12-18-12 and 12-27-12.  The incident remains under investigation.

On 12-28-12, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Bradford Lesley Tilghman, 46, of Princess Anne Maryland for theft.  The arrest stemmed from a theft investigation at Food Lion located at 11846 Beechwood Street.  Tilghman was charged with theft less than $1,000.00.  Tilghman was subsequently charged with making a false statement, driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, driving on a suspended license, attempting to elude police, fail to obey a lawful order, disorderly conduct, and assault second degree.  Tilghman was seen by a District Court Commissioner who issued a $13,000.00 bond.  Tilghman was released into the custody of the Somerset County Detention Center.

On 12-27-12, the Princess Anne Police Department arrested Rachel Anne Smith, 32, of Princess Anne Maryland for an outstanding warrant.  The warrant was a Somerset County Circuit Court arrest warrant.  Smith was released into the custody of the Somerset County Detention Center.
